DCF Suspends Supervisor

A Department of Children and Families supervisor has been suspended in a case involving a malnourished toddler in Groton.  In February, 32-year-old Crystal McGee was arrested when authorities found an 18-month old boy so emaciated that he couldn't talk or walk.  McGee, the sister of the child's mom, was the caregiver even though she warned DCF that family health problems made her unable to care for the kid.  McGee eventually agreed to take the boy for a month but that ended up being five months without much interaction with DCF.  Elizabeth Duarte, a 31 year veteran of the department has been suspended.  She oversees licensing of relatives.
