The Indiana Department of Child Services is under fire for returning more than $100 million to the state, a savings that some argue has come at the expense of Hoosier children.
I know foster parents in Indiana who would love to be able to utilize some of this money to help the teenagers who are close to aging out. Many of them do not come close to having the lifeskills they need to be successful. Yet, DCS's attitude towards them is "Well, they better figure it out." I'm sorry, but the DCS in Indiana doesn't care that they are raising the next generation of criminals in Indiana. If they did they would make an effort to help the older kids start down the right path to a good productive life.
