Next step for abused children still evolving

Next step for abused children still evolving

The number of children removed from abusive homes in Maine has declined more than 50 percent in the past decade, as the Department of Health and Human Services has pursued a policy of keeping children with parents unless they face physical abuse or serious neglect.

Note: You all need to pay very close attention to what is being said in this article. Believe it or not, over the last 10 years Maine has become a national model child welfare system, because they managed to cut the number of kids in foster care in half. I know they still suck at what they do. They take poor care of the kids who they do snatch. They still couldn't tell the difference between child abuse and a hole in the ground, but statistically speaking, still children are much safer from CPS in Maine than they were 10 years ago.

Now, the Arundal case where the baby was thrown into the chair is being used as a springboard for the anti abuse people to force CPS to turn the other way. Paul LePage is saying that CPS is to slow to take action in abuse and neglect cases. Paul LePage is an idiot who claims to have been an abused child, has preached anti domestic violence propaganda basing it on totally inaccurate statistics in his recent State of the State address, and he is now calling for CPS to do more and move faster in abuse and neglect cases, which will cause the number of children being moved from their homes to go up if he has his way.

This is a classic pattern that I have seen play out before. It starts with a high profile child abuse death case. The Propaganda Press Herald and the local television stations are all over this. CPS is about to go under the media microscope. It is determined that more could have been done to protect this one child, so now more should be done to protect all kids. A couple of CPS Agents and a supervisor may take blame for not acting after the baby had a broken arm just a few weeks before. CPS Agents will start crying about things like being overworked, poor management, low pay, low moral, high turnover rates creating a very inexperienced workforce, and bla bla bla. It will all come down to pumping more money into the system bringing us to the bottom line, which is CPS is going to use this case to start taking more kids.

Just you wait and see.
