Take back our children, say angry foster parents
Helen and Brian MacDonald believe the children they have raised for the past 6½ years are the ''best two foster kids in Australia.''
But they have decided they will not look after them any more because the state government has cut payments to foster carers of 16- and 17-year-olds, from January 1. In most cases households will be $214 a fortnight worse off.
Well...I read the complete article and LK I am disgusted at these two foster parents. I understand that they have a legitimate gripe regarding the cut in foster care payments however, the way they have chosen to deal with the situation makes me sick. These two children have been living with them as THEIR foster children for 6+ years. Suddenly a case worker will come to get them, bringing 2 black garbage bags for them to carry belongings in, they will be moved to other foster care locations, possibly seperated,why? Because their monthly checks are going to be cut! How dare these two people even suggest that they want to make a difference in the lives of children! If they think that all the other efforts to stop the cuts have been exhausted then so be it. Don't take in any more 16 or 17 year olds. You don't throw away your children! Children are not throw away items people! These are clear cut foster parents doing it for the money who don't hesitate to shame the parents who gave birth to them...well guess what people...everyone had better wake up because the majority of children taken away from their biological families is done unjustly and your children could be next! Those of you who believe that it could not happen to you, or that CPS only takes children away when they are abused could not be more wrong...Education is the answer..please educate yourself because we ALL use to believe the same things you did, until it happened to us.
ReplyDeleteYou Are SO Right. People Never really know what is going on (or really care) unless & until it happens to THEM or their families. And they Don't just take 'poor' kids and they DO take kids who are NOT in Any Way 'abused' -- and then put them into shelters and foster homes where they ARE. It's Sick. And something needs to be done about it.
