The perils of privatization

Donna Koehn's article "Change is coming for child welfare" (front page, Jan. 4) needs to be considered in wider context. The $65 million state contract to protect Hillsborough's children will be taken from one private agency, Hillsborough Kids Inc., and given to another, Eckerd Community Alternatives, which already has contracts in the state. The article states: "Only Eckerd and HKI vied for the lucrative contract."
