The tragic story of Angelo Mendoza has our attention. The horrific way he was maimed sends shudders down our spines. The most demented horror movie could not capture the depravity of such an act by a father.

Given that Angelo's parents had in the past pleaded no contest to child endangerment charges, it seems fair to question whether local child protective authorities missed any warning signs that may have made a difference.

I am a proud father of two, however my first child was taken by the CPS.

Please pardon any spelling errors etc. this message still hurts 7 years later and it makes detail difficult.

I would like to start by informing the public that when you have a child born at any hospital. Be very careful what you agree too. I had a man in a leather coat introduce himself as a county worker AT THE HOSPITAL! He asked me if I would like aid in my son's care. I thought it would be a good idea (stupid, stupid, STUPID!) and after reading, signed. He left the hospital and was not seen again. Three months later a CPS worker showed up with an officer and at GUNPOINT forced their way in and took the baby. claiming a worker from a previous visit saw a plastic bag in the crib. The bag in question was my mother-in-law's and was not even in the house (she keeps it in her car, it's for her laundry which is kept in her car to keep it separate from ours). When my M.I.L. tried to say this in court SHE WAS NOT ALLOWED TO TESTIFY! Every time she showed up they immediately postponed the hearing.
We went through every class they wanted and it still was not enough, they even falsified "evidence" at each hearing. Evey time my son was at a visit he was bruised and cranky. When we made note of this we were told to shut up(exact words). We managed to get him adopted by a friend but that is not good enough!

Anyway

Submitted by Lukes Dad

The last time I played with my son Luke, he had only just turned two, and was a healthy little baby, apart from the scratches on his face. I was only allowed 2 hours a week with him for the last six months of his short life which ended on the 18th of January, 2009. Luke died at the age of two years and four months.

Two days after this photo was taken his mother had her 2 hour visit. Only after her discovery of more severe fresh scratches, thiis time on his penis, and after Lukes's mum insisted, was he taken to a doctor for medical attention. These injuries and others, including severe burns, multiple scratches and bruising were a constant in Luke's life, while he lived with his Queensland Department of Child Safety sanctioned foster carer.

Luke was left with a fractured skull, bleeding on the brain, and a blood clot, unconscious for six hours. Only after I rang the foster home a third time that day to check on his well being, was he properly looked at and an ambulance was rung. By the time he got to hospital his brain had been so starved of oxygen that half of my little Lukey Pukey's brain was dead.

The first time I rang the house I was informed Luke had suffered a head injury and gone to sleep. I asked her to be very careful with his head as he had received a knock on the head before. She was awful to me, a 74 year old who already had 3 foster children in her care, two boys aged 4 and 6, and a girl aged 9.
Luke had been brought back to the same household where he had been inflicted with constant injuries before, after he was kicked out of his previous foster home, the day before Christmas.

I was not informed of Luke being placed with this woman until my visit with him on the 5th o January, and immediately questioned how this elderly woman would be able to look after him properly.

I informed the child safety officer he was always injured whilst in her care and that I was worried he would be bullied by the older children. I begged, he was fine with me, a previous visit supervisor had also begged them to let me have my son back. They told her I was paranoid but she strongly disagreed, but they had decided I was not good enough to be a father long before this.

Everyone could see how much I loved my son, and he would not leave my side. He was terrified of being removed from me, as they had done before.

I had moved to Townsville, which was the last step for me in my battle against drugs. I acquired secure work and earned over a thousand dollars a week. Half of this money went to the best solicitor I could find. Child safety Cairns refused to sign over the paperwork, Luke was taken away from his mother and I in Townsville, as child safety refused to let Luke stay while I was partnered with his mother. We argued too much.

God works in mysterious ways, and my new employer was a drug and alcoholl counselor of twenty five years, and three of his success stories were my work mates. Two of those were his sons.

I put my mind into my work, and every morning when my phone alarm would go off at 5 am, Luke's photo would come up and I would;d smile and say, "For you Luke, anything."
Luke was my reason for getting up every morning, my light at the end ot the tunnel was to get Luke back. I stayed drug free for six months until I followed Luke back to Cairns. Child safety Townsville put Lukey in two different foster homes then in a third house in Cairns. His mother was told she would have Luke if she left me in Townsville We were never given a chance to mend out relationship, offered any help or counseling or referred to anyone for help. They had decided from the onset I was to go, and the child would go with his mother. I prayed for my son for twenty years. He is the miracle God gave to me.

I moved back to Cairns, so I could keep up my two hour visits, which was all I now lived for. I went to child safety Townsville every day to show them I was working and drug free, and to beg for my son back. I got the same look I received from child safety Cairns supervisors, the elite who answer to no one, a look of hatred. I continued with ATODS appointments, I received counseling and advice from centacare, took voluntary urine tests and kept a full time job.

I couldn't work in Cairns, as I was doing too many courses and counseling, Lifeline, Centacare, Relationships Australia, ATODS, Solicitors, it was a full time job trying to get my son back.

I myself am a victim of dcf.In two ways. When I was 8 years old my mother went to prison for murder for life. And my brother and I became wards of the state. I was shuffled from foster home to foster home 27 in ten years . split up from my brother in the first year. abused made into a slave. put on pills I did not need. Druged! molested by foster dads and foster brothers . in more than one home. Beaten and then when I would tell my case manager . This is what they would say just give it time .One time when I was 12 I was in a respite home and my foster dad took me out on a boat and molested me . And when i got back to my actual home i told and the worker did nothing. This guy as far as I know is still a foster parent. out of the 27 I talk to two.I'm glad someone else started a site to expose dcf cuz they are EVIL! Do you know this is how my 18th birthday went here is 200.00 and a homeless shelter have a nice life. I am for real that was 2000. I am now 27. The second instance happened in Nov 2008. when I had a nervous break down because i found a good friend dead on her couch. When this happened I could not deal. Not only was i dealing with finding my friend i was also being a single mom to my then 5 yr old he is now 6 . And trying to run three businesses. WELL TO MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT I CALLED OUT FOR HELP AND THEY TOOK MY SON THAT WAS NOV 15. MOVED HIM TREE TIMES .Used the abuse i went through at the hands of their agency against me in court my son failed kindergarten cuz of them. it took me two months to get him back home and they said that was fast it was forever for me. I hope nobody has to live through what i did.

I am a mom who lives in Kentucky, and I have been fighting to get my children returned to me. I am the Kentucky state precedent. I won on my appeal of voluntary termination because of emotional duress at the hands of a social worker who was trying to get information on another family who was Native American. When I would give answers to their demands for questions, I would get more visits, "extra privileges". When I refused, I was lied about in court and the cabinet went after me for termination of my rights while I was in appeal. DOUBLE JEOPARDY! I have had three attorneys, my oldest child has been placed in four different foster homes. My youngest has been separated from his older brother for four of the four in a half years they have been gone. I went all the way to the KY Supreme Courts and they refused to hear my discretionary review. I think I have missed the deadline for the US Supreme Court. I can't afford an attorney. My children were removed because the social worker told me "to go into the hospital", when I was released my children would be returned. This never happened. I did everything they asked me to do and then some. The cabinet and the state contracted therapists stated I had "bi-polar", I have had all women therapists and head shriekers and none of these clowns thought to ask me about my menstrual cycle. I have recently be diagnosed with PMDD (premenstrual disphoric disorder)I have 9 of the 12 symptoms.I believe I have a case for CR. 60.02 which is fraud, error, mistake, new evidence and void. I am terrified to try to do this under Pro se like I have done thus far. This is my fourth mother's day without my babies. Please keep me in your prayers, my children need them! Thank you. If anyone knows any information that might help my e-mail is joannegold08@yahoo.com thanks again~!

Child-protection service in disarray

Child-protection service in disarray

Unfortunately, the Division of Youth and Family Services (DYFS) can no longer be trusted to care for children in home care. As a registered and certified school nurse, I have struggled with this agency on numerous occasions, viewing firsthand this poorly managed child-welfare system. Departments are fragmented, and a tremendous lack of supervisory checks and balances exists. Its workforce is inexperienced, with 80 percent of directcare staff (those who work directly with clients, i.e. therapists, psychologists, etc.) having less than five years' experience, and 25 percent of the casework staff (staff members who arrange for client services) are trainees with less than one year of experience. Children are not visited by DYFS workers regularly, sometimes not for months at a time. Physician referrals are made but not enforced, and cases are closed with uninvestigated complaints of abuse. This is in violation of ethical, professional standards of practice, those principles that express values or standards of conduct.

Note: This is a link and a message that was left in the newsgroup.

I was completely shocked to hear this report tonight and how one sided against
parents it was. This Network should be shamed into reporting both sides of the
issue. Yes, there are parents who abuse, but there are as many children at risk
of abuse at the hands of CPS and foster homes.

We need to shame, guilt, shove at them the evidence that many of the so called
"services" that are being cut are in many cases used as a scape goat for the
forced services that in many cases are not needed being kept and well funded.

Let me know what you think and let CBS know what we know and experience.

THE HANGING MAN

At around 4am on the morning of 15th June 2008 fathers rights activist Simon Anderton scaled the Tyne Bridge, the iconic landmark that connects Newcastle and Gateshead.

Once there he unfurled a banner saying Happy Fathers day - real fathers for justice.org, dangling from a rope underneath the bridge is an effigy of a hanging father; this is to symbolize the thousands of fathers who will commit suicide as a result of contact denial and prolonged family court proceedings.

Simon (50) has previously protested on a ledge with Paul Addison at Westminster Abbey at Easter 2006, where they were eventually talked down by Ann Widdecombe, they also spent 9 days on the roof of Metro radio in sub-zero temperatures over Christmas 2005.

He had few supplies for the days ahead and had no plans to come down quickly.

Group spokesman Mike Kelly Said This protest marks a return to action for us, we have tried to engage with government ministers but have been denied access again and again

We were denied access to a conference where Harriet Harman was discussing opening the family courts to the press, this is symptomatic of this governments refusal to listen to the electorate

The fact is children are still being denied access to see one of their parents, we estimate around half a million - court sanctioned contact orders are not being enforced, Cafcass officers are still under trained and underfunded, the doors to the secret family courts remain closed and unaccountable

Parents like Simon deserve justice, he has not had any contact with his own children for 8 years, despite having a contact order saying he can, the courts wouldnt enforce the order and they seemingly have now been alienated against him - he can only hope they will vote with their feet once old enough

We again call for an overhaul of family law, starting with proper enforcement of court orders and a legal presumption of shared parenting to be enshrined as a starting point if parents separate or divorce

Retarded homophobes vs Adoption Nazis

Retarded homophobes vs Adoption Nazis

It's smackdown time in the Daily Mail, and no prizes for guessing which side they're on.The Mail's fury today is over a comment in The Pink Guide to Adoption - a book for gay and lesbian couples thinking of adopting.According to the Mail, the book says:'Children need good parents much more than retarded homophobes need an excuse to whinge, so don't let your worries about society's reaction hinder your desire and ability to give a child a loving caring home.'I can't find the text of the book online so I can't see the context. The word "retarded" would seem to be a poor choice.Unfortunately, the Mail mixes up different issues in a general mish-mash of unfocused rage against the modern world.First, there's a serious question about which children should be put with which foster parents....

Full Documentary: http://www.stopinjusticenow.com/Lost_...
Part of the Britain's Forgotten Children season, this programme reveals the scandals of the British care system and asks, is it working or failing our children?
Reporter Rageh Omaar examines each stage of state provision for the 25,000 children who enter the care system every year, from adoption and fostering to residential care homes. Why do so many babies have to wait for adoption? Why are so many kids shunted from foster parent to foster parent? And why has residential care become a refuge of last resort, and a potential school for failure and crime?

Desperate Infertile's

One of the things I try to do, here on Legally Kidnapped, is try to show you all the kind of people who the Child Protective Industry will sell your kids to.

If you would remember, a while back I wrote the following post identifying one particular personality type of foster/adoptive parent which I labeled the Looney Tune.

Well today, I'm going to identify type 2, which I have labeled the Desperate Infertile.

The Desperate Infertile adoptive/foster parent is typically a woman who either...
  1. Has feminine related health issues preventing her from conceiving or giving birth
  2. or has a husband who shoots blanks and can't find the guts to get a sperm count because it would make him feel like less of a man or something.

As an example I offer you this.

Cafcass confirm increase in children entering care system

Cafcass has released for the first time a full month by month total of care proceedings applications received since 2005.

The statistics include data from the period April 2005 to March 2009 and covers care proceedings applications made by local authorities where Cafcass has been appointed by the court to represent the interests of children.

Care applications, in the immediate aftermath of the closure of the criminal case into the murder of Baby Peter, rose sharply. This trend has continued at significant levels and represents a shift in intervention thresholds by local authorities. The figure for March 2009 was the highest monthly figure ever recorded by Cafcass - amounting to an increase of 37.9% compared to March 2008. However when annual totals are compared the figures for 2008-09 are broadly comparable with the previous three years.
