A disabled boy was lethally overmedicated, a lawsuit contends, as outrage continues over a child's suicide while on several drugs last month.

  1. Grrr... This is such a common problem and a tragedy that could so easily have been averted. So many children are diagnosed on the ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder), including kids with ADHD (Attention Deficit Disorder) and treated with stimulant and type medications without any regard to underlying conditions, nor follow-up. Let me be clear: I am in no way stating that I am opposed to meds as these can be valuable tools in people's lives, BUT... These must be employed diligently. I do not know how many parents I have spoke with who indicate that their child was never evaluated for possibility of an underlying heart condition prior to commencement of drugs for ADHD! This is a sin of omission that could be deadly. All kids require a full cardiac assessment, including children who participate in strenuous sporting activity! IMHO
