Woman accused of child abuse works for child protection agency

More details were uncovered Wednesday about two local women who are charged with child abuse.

As News 13 first reported Tuesday, one of the women works for the Florida Department of Corrections as a corrections officer. The second woman works for an agency that offers adoption, foster care and counseling services to local families.

Foster Care, Dead Children, and Greg Abbott's Cognitive Dissonance

According to emails obtained by the Texas Tribune, Abbott took a personal interest in the January 2015 murder of a two-month old girl who had been removed from her mother by Child Protective Services and placed temporarily with a family friend. Justice Hull was drowned in a bowl of water by the family friend's 14-year-old daughter, who told authorities she didn't want her mom to adopt the child.

What happens to children after parents are put behind bars?

Last week, we covered a story about the death of a one-year-old after his parents were arrested and charged with manslaughter. The child’s parents are Joshua and Bambi Jackson. According to Josh Jackson’s personal website, he has five other children. Dee Wampler, the Jackson’s attorney, says those children are now in protective custody. Wampler says the children will likely be placed with their parents in the near future.
