Children in care in Nottingham 'abused by predators'

Hundreds of children were sexually abused by predatory foster carers and residential home staff who were allowed to thrive, an inquiry has found.

Nottingham City and Nottinghamshire County councils exposed vulnerable children to repeated rapes and physical abuse, a report said.

Osceola Couple Accused of Neglecting Their Adopted Children Avoid Prison

An Osceola couple who admitted to keeping their two children in plastic-lined rooms and forcing them to use buckets as toilets has avoided prison time.

Kelly Fry and Kenny Fry were arrested last summer and charged with neglect or abandonment and child endangerment causing bodily injury.

In an unprecedented action, the state of Montana removed 27 children from the Ranch for Kids in Lincoln County on Tuesday morning after receiving multiple complaints of physical and psychological abuse and neglect at the private program for troubled youth.

Acting on an order from Lincoln County District Court Judge Matthew J. Cuffe, and with support of law enforcement, the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services personnel took the children from the remote ranch outside Rexford, and suspended its license.

'Doomsday prepper' accused of abusing adopted twins

A Florida couple described as "doomsday preppers" is accused of sexually and physically abusing adoptive twins who escaped and reported them.

Mirko and Regina Ceska were arrested Friday on charges including sexual assault and neglect.

Tens of thousands of parents protest across Israel

Tens of thousands of parents gathered at demonstrations across Israel to demand reform in Israel’s childcare system, including improved safeguards to prevent the abuse of young children at schools or daycare centers.

Ten thousand protesters rallied at Tel Aviv’s Azrieli Junction Sunday night, along with thousands more at 24 other demonstrations across the country, following the indictment of a daycare owner and operator.

Grandmother Saves Children From Alleged Abuse, Social Workers Blame Her Instead

In was on Oct. 13 that Yolanda Bryant, 44, started to receive text messages from a family friend’s phone. It was her 10-year-old grandson. After some chit chat, the boy started to open up. He and his 5-year-old sister had been staying with the family friend for five months already. During that time, they hadn’t been to school. “He said, ‘We’re not allowed out the room,’” Bryant said. “He said they get beat with sticks.” Her heart sank.

Report: DCYF at fault for child's death

The Rhode Island Office of the Child Advocate has concluded through an extensive report released Tuesday that the Rhode Island Department of Child Youth and Families (DCYF) “created” the situation that led to the death of a 9-year-old Oakland Beach girl in January.

The child, Zah-Nae Rothgeb, was one of eight children under the supervision of one woman, Michele Rothgeb, who over the course of 13 years had contact with 13 different children in the foster care system through DCYF. Zah-Nae was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy and had a slew of other health complications, and each of the children under Rothgeb’s care had at least one physical or mental health diagnosis.

Enid foster mother arrested on child abuse complaint

An Enid woman was arrested Wednesday on a complaint of child abuse after her foster child claimed she hit him.

Shannon Carter, 32, was arrested by Enid Police Department officers after the child told officers that when he was in the bath “mommy hit me,” according to the incident report.

Grand jury report finds foster care staff overworked, allegations of abuse

A grand jury report released Wednesday found multiple gaps in institutional safety and training in the Child Welfare Services division of San Diego County’s Health and Human Services Agency.

The grand jury reviewed the workloads of social workers in the CWS division, as well as how CWS workers are trained to provide support and care to foster children and parents. The panel also looked into the effects of the state’s Continuum of Care Reform Act, which required regional foster care systems to increase support for foster families and improve outcomes for foster youth.

An 8-year-old was so badly abused by her foster mother that her body was found covered with uncountable scars, scabs, blisters, and bruises from whip marks when police went to her foster home in Florida on May 16.

The child was forced to put a rag in her mouth while her foster family beat her so no one could hear her screams, reported the Sun Sentinel.

Mother convicted of starving and abusing adopted daughters learns her fate

A woman accused of starving and abusing her three adopted daughters has learned her fate.

Echo Terry, 31, was convicted on 15 different charges in August of 2018, including counts of second-degree assault. The now-adoptive father of the three girls, along with the state prosecution, advocated for the maximum sentence of 27 years in prison.

Thursday, Judge Michael Wolverton acknowledged the serious nature of the crimes, but said the blame also lies with others who didn’t report this abuse earlier.

A Placerville woman was arrested Friday after being charged with multiple counts of alleged child abuse

An investigation of Patricia Taylor, 63, began in mid-April after her 14-year old adoptive daughter ran away to one of her older sister’s residences in fear of receiving punishment from Taylor, according to a press release from the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office.

A child reported his dad abusing him. Last year, a toddler girl died in foster care at the same home.

A toddler girl died last year in the same Arizona foster placement where, in April, an older child sent police an email reporting his father had physically abused him for two years, according to several people who know the family.

In a chilling email to El Mirage Police Chief Paul Marzocca, the boy said he was “afraid to go home,” according to court records. When police visited the boy at Riverview Elementary School, he told officers that the night before, his father "punched him, choked him, threw him into the cabinet, striking his head on the counter and floor," according to court records. The boy said when he was on the floor, his father, Colin Steffee, 27, kicked him in the ribs.

The family of a toddler living in an El Mirage foster home, where an older child reported being abused by his father for two years, is questioning whether the state Department of Child Safety is adequately investigating foster parents.

The toddler was in a temporary foster placement at the home of Colin Steffee, 27, when he arrived for a family visit last month with cuts under his eyes and scratches on his cheek.
