Judge gives state 30 days to explain why it withheld child abuse information


A Franklin Circuit Court judge has given the state 30 days to tell the state's two largest newspapers why it redacted and took out information from more than 140 case files of children who have been killed or nearly killed from abuse or neglect.

Note: Because Kentucky CPS feels that they are all powerful and shouldn't have to comply with court orders.

I realize that to the untrained (normal) mind, the first inclination would be to blame the father.  However, something just doesn't add up for me.  I'll bet that the mother actually stole the gun and planted it in the kids bag just so that she could have the upper hand in their custody battle, and she could have something to go running to the court house with.

It certainly wouldn't be the first time that a vindictive ex pulled such a crazy stunt to make the other look bad.  (look at the line where the kid didn't know the gun was in the bag.

Following a report that a 4-year-old child brought a loaded handgun to a local preschool last month, the Kennebec County District Attorney's Office has asked for more information to determine whether to bring charges.

Alienated children seem to have a secret wish for someone to call their bluff, compelling them to reconnect with the parent they claim to hate; despite strongly held positions of alignment, alienated children want nothing more than to be given the permission and freedom to love and be loved by both parents (Baker, 2010). Yet the influence of the alienating parent is too strong to withstand, and children’s fear that the alienating parent may fall apart or withdraw his or her love holds them back. Research has shown that many alienated children can transform quickly from refusing or staunchly resisting the rejected parent to being able to show and receive love from that parent, followed by an equally swift shift back to the alienated position when back in the orbit of the alienating parent (Fidler and Bala, 2010). Thus while children’s stated wishes regarding parental residence and contact in contested custody after divorce should be considered, they should not be determinative in cases of parental alienation.

It's a brilliant idea. The Aid to Children and Adolescents at Risk Foundation (ANAR) created anti-abuse ads with secret messages just for kids. The giant posters show a photo of a child's face. From an adult-sized person's perspective, the message reads "Sometimes, child abuse is only visible to the child suffering it." But if you're a kid (or the size of a kid), the child's face in the photos is bruised, and the message reads, "If somebody hurts you, phone us and we’ll help you," with that number. The signs have a "lenticular" top layer visible only from certain levels.

I think it's important to demonstrate how ignorant and arrogant people are on issues such as foster care.  It tells a lot about the setting in which CPS operates.
