How American parenting is killing the American marriage
How American parenting is killing the American marriage
Sometime between when we were children and when we had children of our own, parenthood became a religion in America. As with many religions, complete unthinking devotion is required from its practitioners. Nothing in life is allowed to be more important than our children, and we must never speak a disloyal word about our relationships with our offspring. Children always come first. We accept this premise so reflexively today that we forget that it was not always so.

Moms, imagine this nightmarish scenario: you take your daughter to a park for a family outing, where you have an unpleasant disagreement with your husband. Realizing that you both need time to cool off, you and your husband decide to leave in separate vehicles. In the confusion and emotional stress, both of you assume your daughter is with someone else. Still angry and wanting space from your husband, you head to a relative's house to spend the night -- only to learn 12 hours later that your daughter had been left behind, alone at the park.

Are you looking for a reason to HULK RIGHT THE HELL OUT this morning? Because I think I have it in the form of yet another story about a mom getting in trouble with the authorities for allowing her kid the freedom to exist without being smothered under an oppressive culture of manufactured fear. If the news about the moms who were arrested recently for letting their children play at the park unsupervised didn't make your blood boil, perhaps this report of a mom being visited by Child Protective Services for letting her son play down the street from her house will.

It used to be that, when you wanted to slap someone with a lawsuit, you’d have to hunt them down the old-fashioned way — on foot, just like mum used to do. But now a Family Court official has ruled for the very first time in the United States (it’s already common practice in Europe) that you can indeed serve legal papers over Facebook.

I’ve seen it too many times: Criminal charges being used by a spouse to gain leverage over his or her partner in family court. Unfortunately, this happens in far too many cases where the charges are simply false. The allegations are typically a claim of assault, sexual assault, or criminal harassment alleged to have been perpetrated against either the spouse making the allegation or against the children of the now disintegrating relationship.

I've been following this feminist blog for a while. Why? I don't know. It irritates me sometimes, the nonsense, the complete unwillingness to think outside of the box, theirs being the only acceptable view and refusal to consider any other, the inability to put 2 and 2 together...
I'm not talking about the blogs author. I'm talking about the blogs followers who are commenting on her perfect little world view of the spanking issue which was sparked by that football player Adrian Peterson.
What I can say is that these people are very judgmental and one track minded. So when you comment do not expect a rational answer. Do expect a bunch of silly and nonsensical feminists coming to argue, get all emotional over it, and to be banned from commenting if you push the wrong buttons.
