Illegal adoption racket busted, 19 kids rescued
After a scandal involving the mysterious deaths of beggars came to light in August, the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights has busted a racket involving orphans, 19 of whom were rescued from a non-registered orphanage at Kalkere in Horamavu here on Friday.

Orphanage raided after boy’s death
The Sneha Children’s Home and Orphanage was on Friday raided by a team consisting police, officials from the Department of Women and Child Welfare, members of Childline (children’s helpline) and the Association for Promotion of Social Action (APSA). The team rescued 19 children, all aged between seven months and 14 years. The youngest was seven-month-old Prince.
