Does the state have the right to force a child into medical treatment?
Daniel Hauser, 13, from Sleepy Eye, MN, has Hodgkin's lymphoma or what physicians consider one of the most treatable forms of cancer. One might expect this to make the local papers. Unfortunately due to the parents belief in natural medicine and refusal to treat their child according to standard practice they find themselves defending against accusations of child negligence and arguing to the courts that the state does not have the right to force their child to receive chemotherapy.
I am dealing with a case, of which the Child has been placed with Jehovah Witness Foster Carers, who force the Child to attend these meetings.
ReplyDeleteI have suggested to the client, that she writes, to the Court, and Social Services, stating that if the Child has an accident, and there is a blood transfusion issue, the Natural Parents, have the right to say, that the Child should be given a blood transfusion.
