A worker for the state's Division for Children, Youth & Families who received a recent promotion declined the position Wednesday after several people expressed concerns about her pending assault charges.
Brookline police arrested Sherry Ermel, an administrator for DCYF in November. Ermel is accused of throwing a mug at her wife and hitting her in the back and then preventing her from calling 911.
