When Idiots Speak

Here is another of these fun loving articles written by somebody who has no understanding of the numbers and what they mean.
SHIPLEY | Fund solutions -- not failure -- when it comes to foster care
Each year, the federal government spends around $4.4 billion to maintain the foster care program, yet very little of that is allocated to services helping prevent the need for foster care.
That is correct but she continues.
In 2013, Kentucky had 104,000 child abuse or neglect claims, yet only investigated 52,000 of them, and of that, only around 11,000 children were put in out-of-home care. I find it hard to believe that out of 100,000 calls, only 11,000 children were being abused or neglected.
Just because they were not put in out of home care does not mean that they were not abused or neglected, nor does it mean that all of the kids who were removed form their homes were abused or neglected.  Perhaps that the family managed to pull it together.  Perhaps the social workers don't know the difference between child abuse and a hole in the ground.  I don't know.  I just know that this person doesn't have a clue as to what these numbers mean.

The only explanation for this is because they have been in the sights of that state’s child protective services division, as there has never been any history of abuse or neglect.

Adoption Mythology and Pathetic-ism

I feel compelled to direct your attention to one of the 10,000 most pathetic articles I have ever come across.  It is about a photographer who is taking pictures of foster kids for what is called a heart gallery.  This is where they will display happy bubbly photo's of kids who are available on the Illinois adoption market.
“Everyone knows about the other two types of adoption, you can adopt an infant from an agency and you can adopt from overseas, but no one knows about the third type of adoption, which is adoption from foster care,” McConnell says.
It is one of those heart warming, feel good articles that will sucker some emotion junky wanna be mom into looking into the foster to adoption industry for your child of her own to have and to hug and to hold and to call George.

This article does not dispel myths about adoption but rather creates one.  The myth that articles like this create is the happily ever after adoption story.  It promotes the theory that you can love a child's emotional baggage and damage that they suffered while in care away or with a little patience and nurturing, the child will learn to love you and forget that they ever had a real family.
“Of all the children we’ve had in our home, with a little discipline and a lot of love, they just blossom,” Carolyne said.
It does not mention parents or families who are struggling.  It does not mention the very real challenges that adoption from foster care customers face with these kids.  Here's the link so that you can see it for yourself.

Hold on to your lunch.

We live with the ever present risk of terrorism and violent extremism. It is part of life in contemporary Britain. Yet social work is sleep walking into a worrying new area – that of ‘pre-crime’.

This means, in social work terms, pre-determining which children are likely to go on to be harmed or will go on to become terrorists at some stage in the future. It sounds like something from the Tom Cruise film “Minority Report”.

Was Avalena Conway-Coxton left to die in a hot SUV by her Foster Mom?

The Boston Globe has just given us a little more insight into the death of little Avalena Conway-Coxton as well as what happened to the other child.  Avalena was the little girl who died in foster care last week in Auburn Massachusetts as you should remember.
A toddler who is in dire condition after being taken from an Auburn foster home last weekend was found with skin that was hot to the touch and an elevated temperature as well as bruising that may be consistent with a seat belt harness, according to two people familiar with the case.
The symptoms suggest the 22-month-old foster child may have had hyperthermia, the medical term for being greatly overheated, the people said. Authorities have not said how the child may have become overheated, or identified the cause of death of a 2-year-old foster child who was also found unresponsive in the home Saturday.
Temperatures in the area were in the 80s at the time. Authorities towed away the foster mother’s SUV on Sunday, but have not divulged why. They executed their third search of the house on Wednesday.

Penelope the Pathetic Foster Parent and the Commercialized Tale of the Stinky Foster Kid

Over the years I've read lots of foster parent blogs because I was fascinated by the concept of what kind of person would want to become a foster care provider.  Not so much now that I've figured it out because most of them are just gullible sheep who believe everything the nice social worker tells them, some do it for the money, some are pedophiles who want access to kids, some do it because they want your child of their own to have and to hold, and to hug and to squeeze and to whatever like Elmira here in the following video...

And then we have Penelope the Pathetic Foster Parent.  Penelope the Pathetic Foster Parent does a blog called Foster 2 Forever.   Foster 2 Forever is a horribly insulting blog to any real parent who has ever had their children taken away because she puts herself on a much higher pedestal and hates real parents with a passion.

Although I've written about her before, I have tried to ignore Penelope the Pathetic Foster Parent for the last couple of years, regardless of the fact that she ruthlessly promotes the stealing and selling of children, because I thought that she might be slightly mentally retarded, as you can see if you watch the following video which she made a couple weeks ago...

But today she has sunk to a new low.

"How did she do that?" you ask.

With a blog post about a "stinky foster child" who came to her with a trash-bag full of stinky chothes, which ultimately became a commercial post for Febreze Laundry Detergent.

So without further adieu, here is the link.

Here's the link.  And please take the time to read the comments.  You will totally see why this issue is problematic.  You will also get a good education in the mentality that people who haven't experienced child welfare but always call for more anyway.
