It's what I would call a rather extreme example of the media's exploitation of the excessively blown out of proportion, if you ask me. I'm not being critical, I'm just stating an observation.
What else can I say? Society has bought into a solution for child abuse and neglect that just doesn't work, except for the benefit of the System Sucks.
