Congressman concerned about overmedication of foster kids

Growing concerns about whether foster children are overprescribed psychotropic medication have prompted a congressman to examine the oversight of the foster care system nationwide.

The actions by Rep. Jim McDermott, D-Wash., which included a congressional hearing a few weeks ago, come as New York officials are trying to ensure that foster care systems have safeguards against overmedication.
