Fresno County investigates death of 4-month-old foster baby

Fresno County officials are investigating the death of a 4-month-old boy who died in a Fresno foster home last week.

The county Coroner's Office said Justin Thomas Murrietta died April 20. An autopsy has not revealed a cause of death, and further tests are pending. But county child welfare officials say it appears that Justin died of sudden infant death syndrome, or SIDS -- the sudden, unexplained death of an otherwise healthy infant.

Justin's natural parents, Bobbie Murrietta and Thomas Farray of Fresno, dispute the county's conclusions, however. They believe he was smothered by a pillow.
