After three days of deliberations, a jury has found the foster mother accused of killing a three-year-old boy in her care guilty of manslaughter, but not guilty of second-degree murder.

More charges for couple convicted of foster abuse
More charges are on the horizon for a couple already serving time for foster abuse.
In March 2006, Arthur and Lori Allain were convicted of nearly starving their 10-year-old foster daughter to death. Now, the girl's half-brother, John Edwards Jr., has filed an amended lawsuit involving negligence against the Allains, the adoption agency Kids Central and his caseworker.

As a former foster child, he knows how the system works and wants to encourage potential foster parents to get involved.
"Growing up, I know people just think of it as a bad thing," Calhoun said. "It's not really a kid's fault. Foster care is about giving a kid an opportunity to have a normal life."
Note: Here's one of the few success stories that I sometimes talk about. You gotta wonder what they told this kid throughout his childhood. I know workers lie to the children, keep them in limbo, are always trying to figure out what they're going to do with them, but some just come out brainwashed.

Justice James Wood's report into child protection services is littered with chilling cases of abuse and neglect that have gone unattended because case workers are unable to manage their massive workloads under the flood reports coming into the DOCS help line.
