THE CATHOLIC CHURCH IN Australia rejected recommendations to compel priests to report child abuse revealed to them in confessionals.
An investigation by the Australian Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse discovered widespread abuse, revealing that approximately 7 percent of the country's priests had been accused of abusing children.
