Caffeinated Thoughts recently reported that State Senator Matt McCoy (D-Des Moines) wanted to require school districts to check in on homeschooling families in response to the death of Natalie Finn, a 16-year-old from West Des Moines who was denied critical care and starved to death. He has now filed a bill to that end – SF 138. The Des Moines Register which has been on an anti-homeschooling rant ever since independent private instruction was passed took yet another shot at homeschooling saying “Home-schooling free-for-all jeopardizes youth.”
