Houston family advocate sounds off on social worker disciplinary disaster

Houston attorney Julie Ketterman of KHA Lawyers, PLLC, finds the actions of the Kentucky child and family protective services agency appalling in a recent case. Boone County, Kentucky, social worker Karey Cooper attempted to help a 7-year-old girl after receiving reports of abuse and neglect. Cooper, a Special Investigator for the State Cabinet for Health and Family Services in Northern Kentucky, has subsequently been removed from her position and assigned to desk duty. She is currently being investigated and faces disciplinary action and possible termination. All because of a policy that does not allow a qualified social worker to pursue a case that is no longer theirs.
