‘Sixties Scoop’ haunts aboriginal survivors: Editorial

Manitoba became the first province to apologize to its aboriginal people for the “Sixties Scoop” – the forced removal of native children from their homes to grow up in white families – this week. “Like residential schools, the effects of the Sixties Scoop remain with us today,” said Premier Greg Selinger. “It was a practice that has left intergenerational scars and cultural loss.”
