Christie hires high-powered lawyer to end supervision of NJ child welfare system

The Christie administration has retained a high-powered lawyer to get New Jersey out of federal oversight of its child welfare system that began a dozen years ago when the state reached a settlement with a national child's advocacy group following the death of a 7-year-old boy, NJ Advance Media has learned.
