After deaths, Vermont Senate to debate child safety bill

The bill up for action Wednesday contains a new section of law saying a failure to protect a child by someone who knew or should have known the child was in danger can be prosecuted as a felony, with penalties up 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.

Note: Now they'll report every little scrape on the knee, just to be safe.
