The good news is that the recent hiring of 81 new employees by Connecticut’s Department of Children and Families should help reduce the caseloads of social workers — caseloads that at times have run as high as 150 percent of recommended levels. “I think for now the number of workers will be enough for the caseload,” said Fernando Muniz, deputy commissioner of DCF.
