Audit finds deficiencies with dozens of Bastrop County investigations

An internal audit by the Bastrop County sheriff’s office has revealed dozens of cases with deficiencies because of improper record-keeping by one of investigators.

According to a statement issued by the sheriff’s office, 44 of 129 cases assigned to investigator Robert Torres between August 2012 and August 2014 lacked supplemental reports from other agencies — including state Child Protective Services reports — missed files or did not update investigations in the sheriff’s office’s system.
