AFFORDABLE CARE ACT MAY IMPACT CHILD SUPPORT OBLIGATIONS

AFFORDABLE CARE ACT MAY IMPACT CHILD SUPPORT OBLIGATIONS

Under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, such health insurance concerns may become a thing of the past. Under the new law, children may be able to remain on their parents' health insurance policies until they reach the age of 26, regardless of whether they are eligible to be covered by another health insurance plan. In addition, a child's eligibility for coverage under a parent's policy will likely be unaffected -- and continue -- despite such factors as whether he or she still lives at home, is married or single, or is still in school.
