Children Escape Foster Home in Corpus Christi, Found Safe in Alice

2 Foster children are back in the care of CPS after they were missing for several hours. The children were reported missing from their foster home on the 4500 block of Hogan in Corpus Christi. The children, 8 year old Diamond and 6 year old Billy Boortz were placed in foster care yesterday and reportedly told a 3rd foster child their new foster mom was mean and that they were going back to live with their grandmother in Alice.

  1. Someone recently commented to me to get rid of cps and put child protection back in the hands of the police... this was my response:

It really should be up to other family members with truly the best interest of the child in their hearts. Police are part of a community, of people who are groups within groups. Some groups take sides - who is to influence whom? When it comes right down to it a coalition of family members made up of a hierarchy of maternal and paternal grandparents, parents, great aunts and uncles, mothers and fathers, sisters and brothers, aunts and uncles and cousins and sons and daughters. THIS SHOULD BE AN AGREED UPON GROUP BY EVERY FAMILY MEMBER ON BOTH SIDES IN ORDER TO HAVE A SAY IN THE WELFARE OF THE CHILD. NO FAMILY MEMBER IS TO BE EXCLUDED FROM MAJOR DECISIONS AND IF A MAJORITY CANNOT AGREE -THEN YOU CAN GO TO COURT!

How's that for a less expensive and more cohesive solution? Make a family pact. Support laws that support the family pact. Put the power of the care of a child back in the hands of the true family of the child. Save adoption for children who truly need homes, God knows there are plenty of them to go around. If you are not raising a homeless teenager today, society is raising him or her into whatever society has become...
