Foster children would be allowed to get clothing only from second hand stores

Under a new budget proposal from State Sen. Bruce Casswell, children in the state’s foster care system would be allowed to purchase clothing only in used clothing stores.

  1. Why subject foster children to the humiliation of wearing used clothing that is faded and out of style? Wearing handmedowns to school will make them stick out like a sore thumb. That's rather like the Nazis forcing Jews to wear stars.

The cost of buying clothes from a used clothing store is sometimes equal to the cost of buying new clothes from Wal-Mart. A smart shopper knows how to stretch money by purhasing items from clearance racks.
