CASA for Kids: 'Terri'

Among the CASA volunteer's responsibilities:

Kissing the workers asses.

Adding a sense of legitimacy to the agencies fraudulent decisions.

Falsely convincing the public that there are people honestly advocating for the child.

Lying in court.

Wexler say: Cutting CASA means fewer children will wind up living on the streets - because more of them will have the chance to live safely in their own homes, instead of being taken when family poverty is confused with "neglect" and then being saddled with a CASA whose racial and class biases blind her or him to the fact that the child's best home often is the one from which that child was taken in the first place.

I had to deal with a CASA Puppet once. Her name was Rosemary. You'd swear to god that she was in bed with the worker. Definitely not an independent thinker, and certainly not one who made decisions based on anything but what came out of a very manipulative workers mouth. She simply wasn't smart enough to do so. Not too many people who work for free are. By the time it went to court, she had changed her report so many times that they decided to fire her half way through and replaced her with a GAL who simply signed off on the states request, all but guaranteeing himself a nice little state contract.

So let this be a warning to the parents out there. Don't be fooled into believing that a CASA Puppet is out for the best interest of the child. And don't be fooled into believing that they aren't bought and sold just like any other System Suck.
