Calls to social services soar after death of Baby Peter

Calls to social services from people worried about the welfare of children have increased dramatically in the wake of the Baby Peter tragedy.

From April to August this year, Manchester Children’s Social Care received an average of 1,232 more contacts a month than for the same period last year – up to 4,258.
