Adoptive mom, biological dad fight for toddler

Adoptive mom, biological dad fight for toddler

A hearing to be held this morning in Orange County Superior Court could determine the next step in a long-running child custody fight pitting an Orange County adoptive mother against a biological father in Ohio who served prison time for domestic violence.
----
Doss, a public relations consultant and single mother, believes Mills shouldn't get custody because she is the only mother Vanessa has known. She also points out that Mills served time for domestic violence in 2005. At issue at today's hearing is whether Orange County or Montgomery County will have jurisdiction over the case. If Ohio prevails, Vanessa would be sent there and placed in foster care until a permanent solution is reached. Doss says forcing Vanessa to be separated from her would be devastating to the child – and to her.

Note: This is an interesting case because Doss is a public relations consultant who obviously knows what a hot button topic "Domestic Violence" is these days, "Oh he committed violence against a woman who would lie to adopt the kid right out from under him, 5 years ago," and is therefore obviously a nut case.

But since we do not know the circumstances surrounding the incident in question, we should not assume this to be the only reason used to justify the adoption.

    Timeline:
2005 dad in jail for DV against DNA-mom
2007 DNA-mom has sex with dad, obviously DV in 2005 wasn't an issue any more (or in the alternative: DNA-mom isn't competent to handle her own affairs)
2008 Child is born, dad tries to visit at that time
2008 Doss pays DNA-mom for baby (probably calling it birth expenses), which is a kidnapping for hire
2008 Doss knows dad is the true father of child, prolongs kidnapping
2010 PKPA/UCCJEA enforced on Doss, who must surreender child.
So when will Doss, et al, go to prison?
