Four-year-old testifies in toddler's hanging death

A four-year-old boy told police in a videotaped interview played at a fatality inquiry on Wednesday how he saw an 18-month-old toddler hang himself from a window blind cord.

The witness told city police Sgt. Beth Lowe how the younger boy climbed up on a "white thing" while they were in the basement play room, then fell on to the floor.

The tragic incident occurred on the afternoon of Oct. 24, 2007, at the two-story home in the Hamptons community in northwest Calgary, while the boys' foster mother had left the room briefly to go to the washroom.
