I am in search of my twin brother who was taken shortly after birth and given to couple that the delivering doctor knew without my mother's consent or knowledge of the relinguishment. She was later told that 'it' was stillborn. My twin and I were born in Pottstown, PA at Pottstown Memorial Hospital (now Pottstown Memorial Medical Center) on 3/17/1959 and the MD's name was Elmo B. Sommers, now deceased.

Some doctor in that area has that doctors records, and you should be allowed to look at them.

My best guess is that this couple is either related or lived in the area, and that the doctor put together a birth certificate with that couple as the natural parents. Until you get there name it is almost impossable to get access to any records through the state. This was not uncommon at the time. No one would question the certificate and the birth.

School records locally and in nearby towns would be another place to look for this info.

There is a good chance that you grew up almost next door to this peron.

Bottom line, you need to know about the doctors life, family friends etc., and you will probably find the missing family member.

It is unlikly that this doctor made a regular practice of stilling babies, so what he did was an act of love.

    Good luck.
