Schools use 'safe' rooms to islolate students

Three east side Vancouver elementary schools are isolating students in "safe" or "time out" rooms when they consider the children to be a danger to themselves or others.

And in one case a six-year-old foster child, with a history of past abuse, was locked in a room described as a "closet" on a regular basis as a method of dealing with the child's outbursts.
