Can Social Workers Be Sued?

A Big Island family's claims that lying and overzealous social workers wrongly took their children has made it to a federal appeals court.

A Child Protective Services social worker interviewed a 4-year-old girl about whether her father had sexually abused her. The girl and her brother would spend years in foster care until courts acquitted the father and reunited the family. The family sued everyone involved.
