Lufkin man faces up to 40 years in child molestation case

A judge handed down a split verdict Friday in the case of a Lufkin man accused of molesting two young boys.

Willie Norman Purvis, 48, has been convicted on two of four counts of child molestation. Angelina County state District Judge Barry Bryan found Purvis guilty of touching a 5-year-old boy and a 6-year-old boy on their private areas last summer.

The 5-year-old boy told his mother about the sexual abuse, according to testimony. He had formerly been fostered at that home and often visited.
