Care cases up after Baby P trial (BBC News)



The number of applications to take children into care in England has risen sharply, which experts say may be linked to the Baby P abuse case.

Figures for March were the highest ever recorded by Cafcass, a public body which represents the interests of children in Family Courts.

There were 739 applications, compared with 496 in the month before the case.

    Yes Care Proceedings have increased by as much as 75%, within Isslington.
    In the West Midlands, where Social Services are taking new born Babies from Hospitals on Emergency Protection Orders like there is no tomorrow,this statistic is 45%, one of PAINS Solicitors, based in Birmingham, says he has never known anything like it.
    These figures will rise considerably,due to the new Legal Aid payments with regards to Barristers,they will not want to deal with Public Law cases, due to their, drop in pay.
    Parents will be put into a non winning situation, as they may be forced to represent themselves.
