A Thought

With foster parent month right around the corner, I propose a change.

Foster parents should no longer be called foster parents. They should be called foster care-givers.

Caring for a stolen child does not make one a parent.

I don't like care-giver, it makes parents and contractors sound equal. By analogy with soldiers who fight for any country that pays them, mercenary parent is more accurate.

Ordinarily women who love a man for money are not highly respected. Why do we glorify women who do the same for babies?

  3. Well, said, I agree, I prefer the term foster care-giver to 'parent'.

Care-giving duties are the premise behind fostering; thus it should be named as such. Assurance of follow-through alongside the paid responsibility need be closely monitored.
