Report: Drug Trials Gave Foster Kids Access to Treatment, but Imperfect

Researchers have completed a three-and-a-half year investigation into how the city's child welfare system enrolled foster kids in HIV drug trials. They took place during a time when AIDS and crack were beginning to wreak havoc on poor communities. The report finds that while the city acted in good faith in trying to get potentially lifesaving treatment to kids, it also flouted some serious rules and kept sloppy records. WNYC's Cindy Rodriguez reports.
