Mothers Protest Outside DHS
Mary Kalyna spoke on behalf of the Philadelphia-based self-help group DHS: Give Us Back Our Children, which represents mothers who claim their children were unjustly taken from their homes.
"Despite no examples of negligence, abuse or any other problem having been proven, children are languishing in foster care," Ms. Kalyna exclaimed through a megaphone. "Millions of dollars are being exchanged between the state, DHS and the contracting agencies [ which] fund their budgets, based on the misery of children in foster care. We are here to demand accountability an end to the abuse of power."
