Woman fights for right to adopt girl taken from her care

Sparkles is only 9 months old, but they have been difficult months. She was born blind, the result of sexually transmitted diseases inherited from her biological mother -- from whose custody she was removed soon after birth. Her mother also passed on a crack addiction.

Stewart, 57, a widow who has adopted 12 foster children over 17 years and raised two biological ones, wants to adopt Sparkles. But she is in a battle to regain custody of the baby.
