Don't you ever tell the stories of children saved in care? Yes, there are problems with the system. NO ONE can deny that. But what about the thousands of kids saved from extreme physical, emotional, and sexual abuse? Not all foster homes are the low-life type you are portraying. I'm so sorry you only see the negative homes. But some people ARE doing the best for kids even at their own personal sacrifice. To give everything including your heart on a platter to love a child that you may never see again takes a strong will and a strong heart. Those seeking to adopt kids in foster care are often escaping the high costs of domestic infant and foreign adoptions. Being poor and not able to have kids does NOT make these bad foster parents. Or that they want to "legally kidnap" the kids...It only means those people have no choice but to turn to the system to have a family of their own and take their chances that a child is out there waiting. Those foster parents have to rely on a flawed system too. They have to be able to give their heart and be willing to adopt if (and only if) the system has deemed the parents unfit. So why portray all the horror stories and none of the good? It's biased.

Since there hasn't actually been much to post the last few days, (which is a good thing I suppose)I figured I'd respond here so that nobody misses it. I'll take it point by point as this is a perfect example of the blind support that society gives to this issue that allows CPS to thrive.

Don't you ever tell the stories of children saved in care?

No.

Yes, there are problems with the system.

Agreed.

NO ONE can deny that.

There are many who do.

But what about the thousands of kids saved from extreme physical, emotional, and sexual abuse?

You're blowing things out of proportion. I don't deny that the system saves lives. I don't deny that some children are better off in foster care. Sadly the current system is a mess. They take more kids then they need to and children do better with their families. It's as simple as that. Many families can be helped, unfortunately CPS acts in lots of those cases with a "take the child and run" mentality.

As for kids who are really abused and neglected, and not necessarily by the standards of the modern day self-righteous hypocrite, by all means, protect them.

Not all foster homes are the low-life type you are portraying.

I never said they were.

There is a sad misconception in the world today. Foster parents are typically glorified in the media. Yet the typical foster child gets bounced through an average of 14 different homes often because the foster parents can no longer handle the children they claim to stand behind, or their abused or neglected, etc. Lots of them end up in group homes. Many of them are heavily medicated. And they are more likely to be abused or neglected while in foster care. Yes there are good foster homes but there just aren't enough of them to go around. They take too many children who do not need to be taken. It's time people start telling the truth about the system.

I'm so sorry you only see the negative homes.

Why would I want to pick on good foster parents?

But some people ARE doing the best for kids even at their own personal sacrifice.

And some of them do it for the money, self-glorification and an adoption agenda. And lets not forget the pedophiles who use the foster care system to gain access to children. For example, the one in the news story that this person commented on.

To give everything including your heart on a platter to love a child that you may never see again takes a strong will and a strong heart.

Yeah. To take a kid that doesn't belong to you takes a special kind of person, doesn't it?

Those seeking to adopt kids in foster care are often escaping the high costs of domestic infant and foreign adoptions.

Interesting. So you're saying that money is a factor.

Being poor and not able to have kids does NOT make these bad foster parents.

Being poor does not make one a bad parent, yet families are ripped apart for this very reason all the time. You speak from total ignorance.

Or that they want to "legally kidnap" the kids...

It only means those people have no choice but to turn to the system to have a family of their own and take their chances that a child is out there waiting.

There are thousands upon thousands of children stuck in the system who will never be adopted because they are not perfect in every way. The heart galleries are full of them. http://www.adoptuskids.org/Child/ChildSearch.aspx They even advertise them in the papers every now and then.

Those foster parents have to rely on a flawed system too.

True.

They have to be able to give their heart and be willing to adopt if (and only if) the system has deemed the parents unfit.

And here lies the problem. The system, (as it realistically IS) doesn't have enough insight to make that determination in regards to the removal or placement of children. Workers lie, blow things out of proportion, and dump them off with any foster parent who will take them, qualified or not, The children are the ones who pay the price.

The foster care system is no better or safer than an abusive home. Often times it's much worse.

So why portray all the horror stories and none of the good? It's biased.

Because it's time somebody starts telling the truth.

    ABSOLUTELY!
Must've been somone who discovered the loophole to get kids to adopt that may have had good loving homes, but their only crime was poverty!
