Europe to examine family law secrecy

A motion has been put to the Council of Europe calling for an investigation into the human rights of people involved in the family court system in England and Wales.

Liberal Democrat MP Paul Rowen, who is a member of the Council of Europe and its human rights committee, proposed the motion. It is supported by nine other Council of Europe members. The motion says: "The assembly notes that there is substantial concern that the secrecy of the family division of courts in England and Wales has caused the development of an environment in which practitioners are not properly accountable."...
