Proof that Foster Parents Do It For The Money????

Parents protest cuts to foster programs

Administration officials say Maine cannot afford to keep paying rates that are among the highest in New England. Parents countered during interviews that the cuts might force some foster parents out of the program because the lower rates would not cover their costs.

Maine's foster care system is falling apart
----

If approved by the Legislature, the reductions in foster care reimbursement rates will be as follows:

Level Current Rate New Rate
A $ 16.50 per day $ 16.50 per day
B $ 30.00 per day $ 21.00 per day
C $ 45.00 per day $ 31.50 per day
D $ 60.00 per day $ 42.00 per day
E $ 75.00 per day $ 52.50 per day

Adoption subsidy rates will also be affected in line with the across the board reductions in foster care rates. The clearest explanation of this adjustment is as follows:

Rates currently over $ 21.00 per day will be reduced to $ 21.00 per day and those rates at
$ 21.00 per day and below will remain unchanged.
