DYFS: Hotline screener may have mishandled tip about Irvington girl week before she was found dead
Nine days before an 8-year-old girl was found dead in her Irvington home, the state child abuse hotline received an anonymous call about "the appearance and well being" of children in the apartment, but the report was never acted on, state officials confirmed today.
