Foster Family Crisis: Voices For Children Investigates

Foster Family Crisis: Voices For Children Investigates

How could something so obvious -- finding more families to host children who have no family -- get so screwed up? We had a net loss of foster families during the last six months of 2010, even as experts say this should have been one of the top priorities for the Department of Children and Families.

Note: Pay attention to the first line in this paragraph. Specifically: "finding more families to host children who have no family."

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that wording like this misleads the public into believing that there is not a single person out in the real world who loves, wants or misses any of the kids who have been stolen and thrown into the foster care system. The real families are non-existent, not considered, as there is no real money in family preservation. They are brushed off as horrific abusers.

Children who have no family my ass.

The rest of the article goes into a situation in Connecticut where foster parents are quitting at high rates because of a lack of support from the child protective industry. I just wanted to point that little tid-bit out to you.

State DCF Losing Foster Families because they suck to work for.

Misinterpretation or abuse of confidentiality laws by the Department of Children and Families has helped feed an exodus in the ranks of foster families, and has forced some foster parents to deal with medical or behavioral problems in their foster children without vital information.
