New abuse hotline has abuse problem
“What we find is difficulty with reports that are being made because of custody battles, malicious reporting, people upset with their neighbors so now they are going to report them to CYFD,” CYFD Secretary Yolanda Berumen-Deines said.
In 2010 the department investigated about 17 thousand abuse claims, 13 thousand turned out to be false reports.
