Anti Psychotic medications overused on children in foster care
Need to Know, a program on OETA-The Oklahoma Network, investigated the use and potential over-use of powerful anti psychotics in the Texas foster care system. They found that 7000 foster children were taking prescribed anti-psychotic drugs; and that the State had also received money from the companies who benefit from sales of those drugs. But this is not about Texas because that state has made progress in reforming the practice of mass medication of children in state care. The concern is whether this practice is prevalent in our state; and what we can do about it?
